HP was renovating the original garage where HP began in 1939, and they wanted a one-of-a-kind gift for the attendees of the dedication ceremony. The goal was to preserve their history, but also commemorate the beginning of a new chapter and the renovation. The gift would need to be delivered in under 30 days and appropriately customize to the event.
Solutions
We wanted this merchandise to have a nostalgic feel and be a keepsake for the attendees. With one of our overseas sourcing partners, we created an old time lunch box with photos of the original garage, original drawings of the200A Oscillator and photos of Dave Packard, Bill Hewlett & others. The photos were used to decorate the inside of the lunch box. Additionally, we recommended a small trinket box.
Results
We produced a silver lunch pail. The pail had the HP logo and the event date on the front and 10 photos and drawings printed on the inside. Due to time constraints, we were not able to create a porcelain box, so we used a composite material. Both gifts were well received, and have become keepsakes for those who attended the dedication ceremony.
